Where to Spend Your Next Taco Tuesday


olitas Tacos & Margaritas just took their menu to the next level. They have introduced over a dozen refreshing items. Executive Chef Deborah Schneider’s menu features new antojitos, specialty dishes and her signature dish — the Super Taco.

The Super Taco became famous in 2009 when solita’s sister restaurant, SOL, introduced it’s bold flavor to Newport Beach. It is acclaimed for pushing the basic taco to its limit by toasting, frying, adding different salsas, cheeses and garnishes. It actually won the prestigious OC’s Best Taco Award.

“Tacos may not be considered a serious meal by most, but here at solita, we take them very seriously“ explained Executive Chef Deborah Schneider.

When you walk into solita you will experience what is like to be in modern Mexico. The interior detail and furnishing were hand made by Mexican artisans and craftsmen. All these finishing touches give the space charm and sophistication. The 150-seat space offers 80 seats indoors and 70 seats on a beautiful patio and indoor/outdoor bar.

solita has five Super Taco options that leave guests always wanting more. A fan favorite Super Taco is the Vampiro and is inspired by both sides of the borders. The Vampiro features double tortilla with cheese, serranos, green onions, guacamole and your choice of meat. Another delicious option you should consider trying is the tasty chicken verde that features pulled chicken, salsa verde, poblano chiles, cheese, creama and avocado. We made sure to not forget dessert!. solita has you covered with their “demonic” brownie that is rich in chocolate and topped with salted caramel pecan sauce, ice cream and strawberry rum salsa.

Matt Baumayr, Rich Howland and Executive Chef Deborah Schneider are the restaurateurs behind the SOL Cocina brand. solita has its own personality but shares common values as its sister restaurant SOL; they both put the utmost importance on fresh ingredients,  big flavors and delivering an authentic Mexican food experience that represents the heart and soul of Baja California.

Chef Deborah Schneider gets her inspiration from the heart. Her take on familiar Mexican favorites such as tacos, carne asada, skirt steak asada, ancho chile chicken, oak–roasted chipotle chicken, house carnitas, red chile borracho beef and wood-grilled wild fish were all inspired by the traditional wood-fired open grill and oak smoker.
