Puesto Makes Its Way up the Coast to OC

Born in Mexico City and built in Southern California, Puesto provides a fresh, contemporary and approachable take on authentic Mexican cuisine. Run by ‘Tacoteurs’ Eric and Alan Adler alongside their cousin Isidoro Lombrozo, Puesto is known for its Mexico City-style tacos made with crispy melted cheese, house-made tortillas and from-scratch salsas courtesy of Executive Chef/Partner Luisteen Gonzalez. Lucky us, Puesto will be in our neighborhood before we know it, so stay tuned!

Puesto is family-owned and operated by Tacoteur Brothers Eric & Alan Adler alongside their Cousin Isidoro Lombrozo and Partner/Executive Chef Luisteen Gonzalez, a Mexico City native who accredits his passion for food to his grandmother and his fisherman father. As first generation Mexican Americans, the brothers have been immersed in authentic, Mexican cooking since birth. While traveling around the United States, they became captivated by how local cuisine in each city reflected its people and culture. Puesto is the combination of authentic Mexican flavors with the fresh, local ingredients of Southern California.

Puesto’s menu focuses on a dozen Mexico City-style tacos made with homemade tortillas, from-scratch salsas and all-natural meats and vegetables. Signature tacos include: Filet Mignon Taco with crispy melted cheese, avocado, spicy pistachio jalapeño, Chicken Al Pastor Taco with crispy melted cheese, hibiscus & chipotle tinga, avocado, piña habanero pico, and Zucchini & Cactus Taco with crispy melted cheese, calabacitas of zucchini, corn & tomato, cactus, avocado, cilantro-tomatillo. Other menu highlights include an assortment of small, shareable plates, guacamoles and bowls such as: Puesto Perfect Guacamole with avocado, parmigiana reggiano, cilantro, onion, fresh squeezed lime & lemon, chile habanero, Dockside Market Ceviche with local fish, cucumber, red onion, carrot, chile and Carnitas Bowl with confit pork, herb lime rice, charro beans, corn, guacamole, tomatillo verde. Delectable deserts include: Tropical Fruit Tart with passion fruit curd, seasonal Mexican fruit, candied fennel, coconut cactus coulis, Buñuelo Taquitos with chocolate, banana, cinnamon tortillas, sweet leche ice cream and Horchata Loca with Malahat San Diego White Rum, frozen horchata, cinnamon.

Puesto houses a full bar with more than 20 tequilas including Patron Silver, Casa Noble, Casa San Matias, Del Maguey and Chinaco Reposado in addition to specialty cocktails such as the Puesto Perfect Margarita with Blue agave reposado tequila, lime, agave, Mojito Classico with rum, lime, sugar cane, mint and Mexican Firing Squad with reposado tequila, lime, house-made grenadine, angostura bitters. Puesto also offers an extensive selection of local craft beers and wines on tap.  Frozen Horchata and seasonal Aguas Frescas are made from scratch daily.

Designed by famed designer Thomas Schoos, Puesto’s lively interiors reflect the vibrant culture and colors of Mexico City. At Puesto’s flagship location in San Diego, the building’s rustic detailing is brought to life with brightly colored accents, hanging potted plants and wall murals by local artist Chor Boogie. The restaurant features a large “food arena” with an open kitchen, while the La Jolla location has a more quaint, tropical ambiance.
