A Beginner’s Guide to Juicing With Suja

Organic 1-Day Suja Juice Cleanse Review

Suja Juice Cleanse

here were 72 precious hours remaining until my brother’s wedding and I was the maid of honor. Besides making sure the bride made her way happily down the aisle, I knew I had to be in tip-top shape for the photos to come. After all, wedding pictures are looked at over and over again for years to come, which meant I had to be photo ready.

It was crunch time.

Now, I consider myself a pretty healthy individual. I try and monitor my diet, and I exercise almost every day. But, I usually have a few extra pounds around my mid section that never seem to go away. I blame my love of pizza and obsession with all things caffeine. Besides cutting those two things from my diet, I started considering my options for becoming a bit healthier before the big day. That’s when juicing came to mind.

Juicing helps rest and repair the tummy and liver, reduces appetite, eliminates harmful foods from the diet, floods the body with healthy nutrition, helps individuals lose weight, improves energy, rehydrates the body, helps heal the body’s cells and allows maximum detoxification. Just make sure to consult with your physician before starting a cleanse.

I’ve never been someone who has jumped aboard any crazy diet fads, and I had never tried juicing before, but when I came across the Organic Suja 1-Day Renewal juice cleanse I wanted to give it a shot. The thing that intrigued me the most was that I was still going to be able to have snacks between my morning, midday, and evening juices. So, I purchased the three juice cleanse and was eager to see how I would feel the next day.

Two days prior to beginning the cleanse I cut out all processed foods, alcohol and caffeine. Besides having a bit of a headache from the lack of coffee, I was feeling pretty good. The big day arrived, and I started off with the Daybreak Probiotic which contained water, maple syrup, lemon, vegan probiotics, and cayenne. It tasted amazing! It was super refreshing, and surprisingly, I felt pretty awake soon after finishing.

Sadly, about 30 minutes after drinking it, I was hungry again. But, that’s completely normal! On the 1-day renewal program, it includes a whole food meal plan. The meal plan includes a few different options of what you can eat between meals (juices). I went with option #2, an avocado with cayenne pepper and pumpkin seeds. They also offer non-Vegan protein options.

Noon Greens was my second juice of the day, which I had around the mid-afternoon. I had stayed fairly full until this time. Noon green contains apple, celery, cucumber, kale, collard greens, lemon, ginger, spinach, chlorella, and spirulina. Judging by the look of it and then reading what it consisted of, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy it very much. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The natural sugars from the apple and strong taste of ginger and lemon deterred any plant-like taste. I chose to skip the midday meal because I got busy with work, but I wouldn’t recommend skipping a meal.

Dinner time arrived, and I was really eager to try the final drink of the day: Twilight Protein. This one was by far my favorite. It was a combination of apple, strawberry, almond milk, banana, pea protein, chia seed, rice milk, and vanilla. That kept me feeling fuller a lot longer than the previous two did. About two hours later I had my last mini meal of the night. A frozen veggie burger (no bun) topped with baby greens, tomato, and hummus (Option #3).

Before I headed off to bed for the night, I went to the gym for an hour, sticking to my nightly ritual. I didn’t find that I was hungry later, even with the workout. The next morning I woke up and weighed myself. While I didn’t lose any weight, there was a visible difference in my mid section. My stomach was a lot flatter, and I felt naturally energized. I wasn’t craving my typical morning coffee. I felt inspired by this and continued doing without processed foods or caffeine for the rest of the week.

Needless to say, when the big day arrived I was flat-tummy-ready, and more than happy to be photographed. I would definitely recommend the Organic 1-Day Suja Juice Cleanse to anyone who has been curious about juicing before but has been a bit too afraid of trying it. Suja also offers other juicing plans, which can be found here. All Suja juices are USDA Certified Organic, Kosher certified, Vegan, Dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. So, what are you waiting for? Time to drink up to your health!
