entinel Restaurant and Hospitality Group, the brains behind Driftwood Kitchen and The Deck on Laguna Beach, have just opened their latest culinary venture. Hendrix, the group’s newest restaurant, is located at the Ocean Ranch Village in Laguna Niguel. Partners, Rainier Schwarz, John Nye and Colby Durnin have made their vision clear, “Our goal is to be a neighborhood restaurant that highlights local and seasonal ingredients, and delivers an experience that is approachable and desired.” They aim to bring flavors from the melting pot of traditional American cooking to life. Their menu showcases a mouthwatering array of rotisserie meats found in their signature “On The Roti” section. Along with the rotisserie, they offer a wide variety of seafood and appetizers. Highlights of their “Bigger Plates” section include Icelandic Cedar Planked Salmon and the Black Bass Filet. For “Small Plates,” there’s no doubt that the Corn Bread with Zucchini is an early favorite.
The Hendrix experience wouldn’t be complete without a good drink. The restaurant features a full bar with an extensive beverage program. They’ll be serving up everything from signature drinks, quality draft (celebrating the American craft movement), and a wine list that will prove to be wide-ranging and accessible to everyone. “Our Beverage Program at Hendrix has something for every occasion – from an after-work cocktail, beer during the game, or great wine for that special celebration,” commented John Nye, Director of Operations. Wines will be on display in the restaurant to make that selection process a little easier for diners and the bar will be serving quality craft and signature cocktails.
Hendrix Restaurant is more than worth the visit. Their main focus is on the rotisserie and they deliver in a big way. Whether you go with the chicken, pork, or lamb (or all three, which is seriously an option), your meat will come in a healthy portion, sizzling off the spit. All the meats are available in single portions as well as a mixture platter for two or more people if you want to share the experience. Sentinel Restaurant and Hospitality group really have knocked it out of the park when it comes to creating a relaxed atmosphere with quality dining and drinks.
