Executive Chef Alejandra Padilla has created a catalog of unique and innovative dishes that stun, from seafood specials like squid ink pasta to delectable desserts like her apricot sticky toffee pudding. With special options ranging from small plates to desserts and cocktails, Padilla offers guests a variety of ways to stray from their go-to orders in the pursuit of something new and exciting this season. Small plate selections include steak tartare with shallots, arugula and truffle aioli, a crab cake topped with Old Bay remoulade paired with a celery radish salad, and grilled artichoke with caper aioli and lemon. If you’re searching for something inspired by the sea, the grilled octopus should do the trick. Not to mention, Padilla’s beet and tomato starter and pear and blue cheese salad are also great alternatives for starting your Five Crowns meal in style.
After trying a small plate or two (or three!), you’ll be able to choose from five different entree selections. Crispy Jidori chicken breast complete with house made chicken sausage, sweet potato puree and honey truffle drizzle is always a good option. But there are also blackened scallops, roasted sea bass, seared salmon, and squid ink pasta on the summer menu. Our interest is especially piqued by the pasta, which includes lobster, charred corn, Thai bird chili, basil and white wine, served on a bed of linguini.
With such rich dining comes the complementary need to quench one’s thirst. Luckily, the cocktail list was curated to do just that. Be sure to note the Paradise City with Dulce Vida Reposado, coconut rum, velvet falernum, lime and agave. Delish!
By the time the main course and cocktail-drinking are over, saving room for sweets will have been a divine feat. The chocolate black out cake receives high marks in the garnish category: it’s topped with coco nibs, toffee salted popcorn and malted vanilla buttercream.
