he Beachcomber at Crystal Cove is a true Southern California beach experience. Steeped in the style and tradition of the 1920’s Newport Coast, the Crystal Cove Historic District is all about maintaining the ambiance and appeal of a classic beach resort. The Beachcomber is no exception to this. With its retro diner motif and classic wooden interior, the café maintains the overall aesthetic of the cove’s original 1920’s cottages. The café is located directly on the beach with indoor seating as well as a spacious patio that places you right on the gorgeous oceanfront. The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and luxurious breakfast with a killer view of the ocean.

The Beachcomber offers a big breakfast menu packed with delicious options for just about any early morning craving. The menu features breakfast standards like eggs and bacon as well as the Crystal Cove Omelette which is packed with apple-wood smoked bacon, avocado, and white cheddar cheese. If you feel like something a little more adventurous, there are plenty of other options in their Breakfast Specialties section. Go spicy with the Huevos Rancheros or the Steak Chilaquiles. These two dishes add a little “south of the border” flare to the mix. Or try a decadent twist on a breakfast staple with either the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes or the Coconut Macadamia Pancakes. If that’s not enough, check out The Benedicts section of the menu. This includes some fabulous coastal concoctions like the Crab Cake Benedict and the Salmon Benedict. Their wide-ranging menu of delicious and expertly crafted breakfast items make this café on the sand a perfect foodie destination.

Awe-inspiring beachfront scenery? Check. Unbelievably delicious food? Check. What’s missing? Drinks. That’s right, drinks for breakfast. But don’t feel bad, you’re in your own little slice of paradise at The Beachcomber. Treat yourself like you’re on vacation. Their drink menu is extensive, to say the least, with eye openers like the “Big Bad Bloody Mary!” (voted “Best in OC” by OC Register featuring house-made Bloody Mary mix, Tito’s Vodka, crab claw, jumbo shrimp, and fresh garden vegetables), and the standard early morning Mimosa. The list goes on with Martinis like the “Cucumber Mist” (citron, freshly muddled cucumber, mint), massively tasty margaritas like “The Real Deal Margarita” (partida anejo, fresh lime juice, real agave nectar), and a specialized cocktails section that will make you ask, “Are we really at breakfast?” The answer is yes. A breakfast that you’ll remember (hopefully) after navigating this flavorful smorgasbord of libations.

The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove should be first on your list of breakfast spots to visit in Southern California as it is both top-notch in its culinary offerings and dazzling in its overall appeal. Run, don’t walk, to try it out. Great food, drinks, and classic California beach vibes await. Breakfast is served from 7 am – 11:30 am.
