tarted by brothers Sam and Joe Ingardia in 1973, Ingardia Brothers Produce Inc. is Orange County’s premier produce, seafood and grocery distribution company. June 16, 2018, marks the Ingardia Bros. 45th Anniversary. The family-owned business will celebrate the milestone with a company breakfast on June 13. While the Ingardia Bros. celebrate in-house, we’d like to take a moment to appreciate their high-quality service and goods, as well as their sustainability efforts over the years.

Ingardia Bros. began as a retail store within a 2,400 square foot building in 1973, bringing seasonal produce and fresh seafood to the Orange County area. After their retail location opened, a customer’s request to have his goods delivered to his restaurant prompted the Ingardia Bros. to begin their wholesale delivery business. Their delivery services are offered six days a week, Monday-Saturday. Fast forward to today; the company has continued to prosper and grow. The Ingardia Bros. newest location is a 63,000 square foot facility in Santa Ana, which houses their fleet of over 75 delivery trucks.

“Since day one, we’ve promised excellence not only to our customers, but to the community as a whole,” said Sam Ingardia. “That philosophy rings true today. We’re constantly seeking new ways to better serve the community. Installing a solar energy system marks a major milestone for the company.”

The Ingardia family and their 210+ employees take pride in being an active part of their community. The Ingardia Bros. support the Santa Monica Farmers Market every Wednesday, acting as a forager for all of your grocery needs. Let them pick up produce and bring it to the doorstep of your restaurant or eatery. It’s hard to resist those fresh farm-to-table goods. As the company continues to grow, Sam and Joe are continually looking for ways to better serve their customers and community in its entirety — this includes a focus on eco-friendly practices and efforts.

The Ingardia Bros. newest facility is truly energy efficient, with the use of solar panels and LED lighting. The company is also a zero-landfill facility. In other words, the 15 tons of trash formerly discarded every month is now being collected, sorted and recycled. In fact, the company partnered with Certified Waste Solutions to ensure that their waste does not end up in a landfill. Internally, the Ingardia Bros. recycle waste by finding uses for their by-products, such as fish trimmings that can be used to feed animals, rather than thrown away. Another way the company has become more green is by implementing water saving techniques. By opting for drought-friendly landscaping and washing its fleet of trucks more efficiently, the Ingardia Bros. have significantly reduced their water usage over the years.

“Our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is on-going,” added Sam. “As new green technologies and opportunities emerge, Ingardia Bros. Produce will adapt to apply and integrate them with our current efforts.”
