Ways & Means Oyster House

Pacific City’s Perfect Pearl

With a casual Southern California vibe, the award-winning Ways & Means Oyster House brings fine steakhouse and fresh seafood dining to Huntington Beach’s trendy Pacific City, and the debut of its delectable Winter Menu is warming up the chilly season in true Surf City style.

Ways & Means turns every good winter dining experience into a So Cal cool weather celebration, and if picturesque sunsets, tantalizing food, and a real sense of community is something you’ve been searching for, then Ways & Means is that memorable place in an iridescent oyster nutshell. In addition to its expertly designed menu that changes with each turn of the season, the popular Ways & Means Oyster House has a unique line-up of some of the freshest seafood available, craft food, and unique specialty beverage items.

The culinary team focuses on integrating a variety of the finest local ingredients into the new menu. There are many mouth-watering items on the winter bill of fare that combines fresh West Coast ingredients with long-established seafood recipes. For a “taste” of what is revving up the new year, the cool weather salad, the Asian Seared Beef Noodle Salad featuring tender rib eye topped on a bed of pancit noodles, Napa cabbage, avocado, mango, tomatoes, and toasted coconut may be just what turns the January blues to greens. Then there is Sweet & Spicy Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp with sweet potato puree, tamarind teriyaki, green onions, and cilantro –the perfect way add a little spice in your life. The Smoked Salmon Stack (my favorite) is heaped with avocado cream salsa, mango salsa, and crispy wontons. Are you a macaroni and cheese lover? If comfort food is on your mind, Ways & Means Lobster Mac & Cheese is made with Maine lobster, and you are certain to lose your mind over this cheesy dish! For an “Ah ha!” moment, try the Blackened Ahi Salad. It is mixed with spinach, arugula and mango, topped with an organic hard boiled egg, toasted almonds, and a beautifully seasoned bacon vinaigrette. The star of the show; however, is Peplos Oysters – Ways & Means West oyster trio, grilled with jumbo lump and feta cheese.

Brining sexiness back, a few of the original new craft cocktails are Bye Felicia made with Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Brovo Curacao, lime and pineapple, Uncle Phil’s Basement made with Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin, lime, cucumber, and bamboo sea salt, and the king of the blue ocean, The King cocktail, prepared with the Great King St. Artist’s Blend Scotch, Compass Box Peat Monster Scotch, Compass Box Honey Ginger, lemon, and ginger. “The winter season brings warmth and comfort, and our new seafood dishes aim to reflect that with bold and fresh new flavors,” said Director of Operations, Dan Schneider. He went on to say, “We’re excited to debut these new items that align with our Southern California vibe.”

No strangers to the hospitality business, Ways & Means Oyster House story began when the husband and wife team, Parnell and Jennifer Delcham, along with Dena Mathe, found their inspiration from all the flavorful and succulent traditions of seafood shacks, oyster bars, and harbor houses around the world.

With an inviting ambiance, outstanding food, breathtaking views, and first class service, Ways & Means Oyster House lends itself to a symphony of the senses that convenes in perfect harmony, but it is much more than a restaurant. Never settling for a simple approach to a seaside eatery, the innovative Ways & Means’ creators chose to make their guests feel right at home by combining traditional ideals and values with an all-encompassing menu and equally impressive coastal experience. Ways & Means has expanded their concept into an At Home store featuring kitchenware, bar tools, craft food, and beverage items, specialty nautical gifts and beach inspired home décor.

Ways & Means has its own collection of private labels which includes oysters, wine, rum, and beer. There are plans in the works for the future development of the Ways & Means Beach House and a membership Yacht Club as well.

The founders of Ways & Means Oyster House care about our oceans and the future of our planet. They host several charity events throughout the year, and their second annual Shuck-It Challenge is not to be missed. This special event involves local firemen, police officers, and lifeguards.

Whether it’s for the shucking oyster event, a quiet evening with someone you love, or a seaside destination with friends and family, Ways & Means Oyster House has something for everyone, and with its commitment to excellence, friendship, and community, it is the shining pearl in a sea of opulence with a laid back beachy flair that celebrates Southern California coastal living at its finest.
