In the past couple of years, Old Towne Orange’s historic district has become home to a variety of new restaurants. The latest addition is The Wall restaurant, a unique hot spot for beer-lovers and foodies alike. With this recent opening comes a new place to check out on the weekend or after work. Skip the chaos of your typical street festival and grab a seat on their outdoor patio, located on a prime corner of the Orange circle.
If you’re not so familiar with brew varieties, you don’t have to worry. Servers are knowledgeable beyond normalcy, a combination of experience and passion enabling their expertise. With over 55 options on tap, the task of choosing a flight can be daunting. If you’re like me and more uncertain than confident when it comes to beer, your server will be more than happy to guide your taste buds in the right direction.
If you’re here for the food, then you’ve come to the right place. The Wall’s original dishes are inspired by tastes from all over the world. Plates are sharable, but can also be hoarded to one’s own liking (for example, me with the short rib lettuce tacos). Ever had a Frito pie? Yes, it’s even better than it sounds. The Carnitas elote fries are a Chipotle and In-n-Out lover’s dream come true (French fries + corn + pulled pork = heaven). Even the burger lover can find a haven at The Wall, with a special burger of the month available to order.
Although the Wall only opened last year, a Wednesday night at the restaurant finds itself filled with happy customers and good spirits. Did I mention it’s a prime spot to watch the game?
Make sure to save room for dessert. While The Wall succeeds in all of its previously mentioned components, it’s their dessert offerings that truly take the cake. Remember the Choco-Taco you got from the ice cream truck as a kid? The Wall has created its own version of the decadent indulgence. A chocolate waffle-cone shell houses fresh scoops of vanilla ice cream, dusted with chocolate pieces, topped off with whipped cream and a side of warm chocolate sauce. The Brazilian street donuts are another option that will bring you back to childhood. Filled with coconut cream or dulce de leche, the fluffy bites of warm dough will send you into a trance. The Wall’s version of Arroz con Leche is topped with a dollop of whipped cream and serves as the perfect compliment to any drink.
We love supporting local businesses in this historic district. With The Wall’s prime location, one-of-a-kind offerings, and top-notch service, it’s sure to become your newest hang out spot. Come for the bites, stay for the never-ending options.
