The Second Annual Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival returns to the luxurious, coastal city, October 2-4. The Festival celebrates Newport Beach and its surrounding cities’ growing culinary scene by bringing together an unprecedented lineup of restaurants, chefs and wine experts into one whirlwind weekend. The caliber of restaurants participating in the three-day Festival truly reflects the level of world-class programming the event aims to present. During the weekend’s main event, the Daytime Festival on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, gourmands will delight in tastings from 30 award winning restaurants like Pelican Grill, Oak Grill, Fig & Olive, The Winery, Montage Laguna Beach’s Studio, Mastro’s Ocean Club and Steakhouse, Red O and many more.
The Festival also brings a national spotlight to the region’s noteworthy food and wine scene as world-renowned celebrity chefs like Rick Bayless, Hubert Keller and Rick Moonen come together to showcase live cooking demonstrations. Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” fans will revel in seeing some of their favorite stars leading the Festival’s Top Chef Home Cook Challenge, where four guests from the audience will be chosen to cook and compete on stage with each celebrity chef coach.
The event’s wine programming provides wine enthusiasts, from novice to accomplished, the chance to experience wine tasting and education on a whole new level. In the United States, there are 147 Master Sommeliers, the highest title in the national wine process. The Festival prides itself on having five of these Master Sommeliers, all of them leading highly educational and interactive wine tasting panels each day. A Riedel Glass Seminar & Tasting will enlighten guests on what a difference a glass can make, while over 200 boutique, “cult” and world-renowned wines will be poured in the center of the tasting pavilions.
Those looking for the VIP experience will enjoy valet parking and early entrance into the Festival’s Grand Tasting Pavilions, as well as a VIP lounge with hand passed hors d’oeuvres, elite wine tastings and the chance to mingle with the Festival’s celebrity chefs. Guests will experience an even higher level of enjoyment knowing that proceeds from the weekend will support the Festival’s charity partner, Project Hope Alliance. The Launch Party, taking place at the Island Hotel’s Oak Grill & Aqua Lounge on Friday, October 2, will kick off the weekend of events with silent auctions and donation proceeds directly benefiting Project Hope Alliance.
