here is only one way to improve a Sunday brunch that offers an ocean view, reinvented menu, unlimited mimosas, remodeled restaurant and a new chef. How? Take that traditional Sunday brunch and expand it to an everyday thing. If you slept in on Sunday, you can always take advantage of the weekday breakfast buffet at Las Brisas (Mon-Sat 8 – 11 a.m.).

We are happy to report that there is an influx of new weekend dining options hitting the scene. As Saturday joins Sunday at many local restaurants, foodies everywhere are smiling over their bubbles and buffet of breakfast dining options. Las Brisas, located in coastal Laguna Beach, has taken it to a whole new level, and if you haven’t been there lately, you are missing out. Go. Go today. Go any day. Go every day you can!

2016 was the start of the much-needed revamp of the Laguna Beach staple. The restaurant received a facelift, and in addition to the light and bright decor, new menus are available, including a separate lunch menu, a sunset celebration menu with daily drink and food specials that are offered at both the patio and indoor cantinas, along with live music seaside Wednesday – Saturday.

Beach communities have a sense of familiarity, and Laguna Beach locals are no different. As much as Las Brisas diners looked for a change and requested new dishes at the Southern California landmark, they also wanted to keep their favorite staples, and most importantly, they asked to bring their breakfast buffet back. To please both locals and tourists, the culinary team came up with new menus to include every part of the day. To the locals surprise and the tourist’s pleasure, a buffet breakfast with or without mimosas is available Monday through Saturday. The pre-fixe four-course Sunday brunch menu has stayed in place due to its popularity.  Champagne is offered daily and on Saturdays the buffet features a seafood bar and prime rib carving station, along with the popular make your own Bloody Mary bar (a bartender will always make your morning wake up cocktail for you if you want to stay seated and enjoy the view).

Not a fan of buffets? You can always just order your favorite dish on the menu instead. Keeping in line with the ever-changing dietary trends, the menus offer gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options as well. If you require something special for dietary reasons, just call ahead and see what the chef can create for you. From brunch to dinner, the team is continually upgrading the menu, bringing diners something new and exciting to the table each week. From a small party of two to a complete restaurant buy-out, the staff is working to make your experience memorable and tasty.

Of course, The Gadget Gourmet had to inquire about kitchen gadgets.  I was happy to hear that their craft cocktails involve muddling and misting and that the buffet also includes sous-vide eggs for their made-to-order Eggs Benedict station, (Want to know more about sous vide cooking? Read it here: Sauté Magazine: Sous Vide ). Las Brisas has found just what it needed to make the comeback Orange County residents have been waiting for: tradition mixed with cutting edge, and it’s a great combination!
